🎬 Movie Review: HIT: The Third Case (2025)

Directed by: Sailesh Kolanu
Language: Telugu
Rating: 2.75/5

The third installment in the HIT franchise, HIT: The Third Case, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, feels like a mixed bag. While the film kicks off with a promising first half, it ultimately struggles to maintain momentum in the second half, making it an average experience overall.

🕵️‍♂️ Plot & Structure

The story follows Arjun Sarkar, who sets out to uncover a pattern behind a series of brutal killings happening across India. As with the previous HIT films, the title card appears in a familiar style, setting the tone for a gritty investigative thriller.

Interestingly, the screenplay reveals some of the mystery's key elements within the first few minutes. While that helps in building curiosity, it also removes the surprise element that could have worked better as an interval twist. This choice contributes to the sluggish pacing in the latter half.

💔 Hits & Misses

  • First Half: Engaging, with a strong investigative buildup.

  • Second Half: Slows down significantly, with unnecessary hero elevations and a diluted plotline.

  • Romance: The romantic track, though charming at moments, often feels intrusive—especially when it cuts into tense investigative scenes.

  • Background Score: Surprisingly unremarkable. For a crime thriller, the lack of a gripping BGM is a missed opportunity.

  • Cinematography: A definite plus. Kashmir sequences were especially well-shot and effectively written.

  • Action: The village action scene in Kashmir stands out as one of the best moments. Unfortunately, the final pre-climax action scenes drag and feel overdone.

  • "Game Element": Introduced with intrigue but loses impact over time.

  • Characterization: Nani’s portrayal shows shades of his role from V, particularly in the way anger is handled. His performance is solid, but the writing doesn't offer much depth beyond the surface.

⚠️ Final Thoughts

If HIT 3 didn’t belong to the HIT franchise, it might have easily been forgotten like Saindhav—another recent letdown from the same director. Sailesh Kolanu seems to be repeating mistakes, especially with second-half pacing and underwhelming climaxes.

HIT: The Third Case had the potential to be another strong entry in the crime thriller genre but ends up as just another average attempt.
