Rebel Ridge movie, - my experience
🎬 Movie Review: Rebel Ridge (2024)
Directed by Jeremy Saulnier
I just finished watching Rebel Ridge (2024), a gritty action-thriller directed by Jeremy Saulnier. While the film offers a solid premise and standout performances, it falls short in narrative clarity and overall execution.
The plot follows a former marine entangled in a fight for justice and money. Though the storyline leans on a familiar framework, it has potential and emotional weight. Unfortunately, the way it’s told lacks depth and leaves viewers with more questions than answers.
Performance & Characters
Aaron Pierre fits perfectly into the role of Terry. His portrayal is emotionally grounded, and I genuinely connected with his character's sense of purpose. AnnaSophia Robb also deserves a mention for her convincing performance in a supporting role.
Technical Aspects
The cinematography is commendable, with well-composed shots that elevate the storytelling. The sound design is effective, though the background score doesn’t quite make a lasting impression. On a positive note, the action sequences are well-crafted and engaging.
Areas for Improvement
Where Rebel Ridge stumbles is in its storytelling. The pacing feels uneven, and crucial plot points are underexplained. The film abruptly cuts to the end, leaving an unresolved feeling—possibly hinting at a sequel, but it doesn’t feel complete.
Final Verdict
While Rebel Ridge shows flashes of excellence, it lacks the polish and coherence to leave a lasting impact. Still, it’s worth a watch for the performances and technical quality.
