Time Cut (2024): A Short, Sci-Fi Thriller That Misses Deeper Impact

Movie Review – Time Cut (2024)

🎬 Directed by Hannah Macpherson

Just finished watching Time Cut — a suspense thriller with a touch of sci-fi. It’s a small-scale movie and overall just an average watch, but it had some interesting moments.

The story is about Lucy, a girl who tries to go back in time to prevent her sister’s death. As a big fan of time travel stories, I was naturally curious — but this one didn’t quite meet all my expectations. That said, it’s not a bad attempt either.

One of the biggest gaps was the lack of explanation around the time travel itself. A machine just appears in a room with no backstory or setup — it felt rushed. A deeper explanation or some lore could have added a lot to the experience. Some of the science concepts mentioned were fun to hear, but the final twist, while surprising, didn’t feel fully earned and came off a bit childish.

Lucy’s character, played by Madison Baines, was one of the film’s strengths. She delivered a good performance and carried the emotional weight well. The screenplay was tight, which helped keep things engaging even though the runtime was short. You won’t get bored — but you might wish there was more depth.

Don’t expect much from the music or background score. The humor is okay — a few decent laughs here and there.

What really stood out to me was the final monologue from Lucy — especially the line:
“One presence in space-time can change your life.”
It’s a simple yet powerful message. I also appreciated the part where Lucy reflects on her birth and what it truly meant. It added some emotional closure.

📝 Final Rating: 2.75/5
A quick watch that had potential but could have been better with a little more effort and depth.

Question for you:
If you had a time machine, what moment would you go back to change — or relive?
